Children's Dance Class Dress Code for Tiny Gems, Little Gems, & Little Diamonds

PLEASE PURCHASE ALL TIGHTS AND SHOES FROM THE DIAMOND TALENT DANCE STUDIO FRONT DESK. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE OUR TIGHTS AND SHOES FOR THE SPRING SHOWCASE SO ALL OF THE CHILDREN MATCH ON STAGE. WE ALSO HAVE LEOTARDS, LEOTARDS WITH SKIRTS, AND DANCE BAGS ON SALE AT OUR FRONT DESK.

 

TINY GEMS (age 2 - 3):

Girls may wear any color leotard and tights with skirts, tutus, or form-fitting dance shorts.

Boys may wear any color tank top or t-shirt with shorts.

Shoes needed are pink ballet shoes (girls) & black ballet shoes (boys) and girls and boys need black tap shoes.
Please do not wear “costumes” unless requested by the teacher for specific classes! Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun. Please use hairspray for flyaway hair. Please do not wear any jewelry to class.
 

LITTLE GEMS (ages 3 - 4):

Girls may wear any color leotard and tights with skirts, tutus, or form-fitting dance shorts.

Boys may wear any color tank top or t-shirt with shorts.

Shoes needed are pink ballet shoes (girls) * black ballet shoes (boys) and girls and boys need black tap shoes.

LITTLE DIAMONDS (ages 5 - 6):

CHILDREN’S BALLET W/ JAZZ & TAP students may wear any color leotard and pink ballet convertible tights. The convertible tights are needed to have bare feet in jazz. Girls may wear short ballet skirts or fitted black biker shorts. Shoes needed are pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes. NO jazz shoes needed!

 

BOYS in black leggings or black jazz pants, white or black (no logos) tight fitting shirt, and black ballet shoes.

 

Please do not wear “costumes” unless requested by the teacher for specific classes! Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun. Please use hairspray for flyaway hair. Please do not wear any jewelry to class.


DREAM CATCHERS MUSICAL THEATRE (ages 5 - 6) 

Clothing needs to be tight fitting any color clothes. Leotards and biker shorts, leggings, or capris preferred for girls. Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun. Please use hairspray for flyaway hair. Please do not wear any jewelry to class.
 

HIP HOP CLASS (ages 5 - 6) 

Clothing can be any color shirts and loose pants or shorts over your ballet clothes. Black Tennis Shoes or Jazz Sneakers must be worn! Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun. Please use hairspray for flyaway hair. Please do not wear any jewelry to class.

YOUNG DANCE CLASS DRESS CODES

for Beg Young, Int Young, & Adv Young Classes

BEG YOUNG & INT YOUNG (ages 6 - 9)​

Girls may wear any color leotard and tights with skirts or form-fitting dance shorts.  Girls may not wear sports bras alone.  ​

Boys may wear any color tank top or t-shirt with shorts.  ​

Shoes needed are pink ballet shoes (girls) & black ballet shoes (boys) and girls and boys need black tap shoes.  ​​

Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun. Please use hairspray for flyaway hair. Please do not wear any jewelry to class.

ADV YOUNG (ages 10 - 11)

Girls may wear any color leotard and tights with skirts and pink ballet shoes for BALLET and may add form-fitting dance shorts or stretch pants over your ballet clothes for JAZZ.  No shoes needed for jazz. Girls may not wear sports bras alone.  ​

Boys may wear any color tank top or t-shirt with shorts and black ballet shoes.​

For tap, girls and boys need black tap shoes for TAP.  ​​

Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun. Please use hairspray for flyaway hair. Please do not wear any jewelry to class.

DREAM CATCHERS & DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH (ages 5 - 11)

Clothing needs to be tight fitting any color clothes.  Leotards and long biker shorts, leggings, or capris preferred for girls.  Please no bootie shorts or sports bras.  Wear jazz shoes, and/or bare feet.  No Jeans or school clothes.  Be ready to dance every class! Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun. Please use hairspray for flyaway hair. Please do not wear any jewelry to class.

HIP HOP CLASSES (ages 7 - 11)

Clothing can be any color shirts and loose pants or shorts over your ballet clothes.  Black Tennis Shoes or Jazz Sneakers must be worn!

CONTEMPORARY CLASS (ages 10 - 11)

Girls may wear any color leotard and tights or form-fitting dance shorts or stretch pants. No shoes or socks, bare feet only.  Girls may not wear sports bras alone. 

Boys may wear any color tank top or t-shirt with shorts. 

Hair must be pulled back in a ponytail or bun. Please use hairspray for flyaway hair. Please do not wear any jewelry to class.

TEEN GIRL'S DRESS CODE for BegInt, Int, IntAdv, & Adv Classes

All Students in the TEEN Classes AGES 11 & up will need dance clothes and shoes for each class style listed below:

GIRL’S BALLET: Any Color Leotard, Pink or Black Tights, Black form fitting athletic pants acceptable. Pink Ballet Shoes must be worn. Pointe Shoes for Pointe.  No jewelry.  Hair is to be worn in a ballet bun with no stray hair in your face.

 

GIRL’S JAZZ & CONTEMPORARY: Any Color Leotard, Pink or Black Tights, Black form fitting athletic pants acceptable. Black or Dark Compression Socks for Contemporary. Bare Feet for Jazz. No Jazz shoes needed. Hair is to be pulled back with no stray hair in your face. No jewelry. 

 

GIRL’S TAP: Same as Jazz, but must have tap shoes. Hair is to be pulled back. No jewelry.

 

GIRL’S HIP HOP: Any clothes you can move in well. Black Dance Sneakers. Hair is to be pulled back. No jewelry.

 

GIRL’S MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE: Same as Jazz. Character Shoes (if you have them) or Bare Feet. Hair is to be worn back. No jewelry.

TEEN BOY’S DRESS CODE for BegInt, Int, IntAdv, & Adv Classes

All Students in the TEEN Classes AGES 11 & up will need dance clothes and shoes for each class style listed below:

BOY’S BALLET: Any Color Form-fitting T-shirt (NO LOGOS), Black Men’s Tights and/or Black shorts. Black ballet shoes and/or black compression socks. Hair is combed back with no stray hair in your face.

 

BOY’S JAZZ & CONTEMPORARY: Same as ballet. Bare Feet. No Jazz shoes needed. Hair is combed back with no stray hair in your face.

 

BOY’S TAP: Same as Jazz, but must have tap shoes. Hair is to be combed back.

 

BOY’S HIP HOP/FUSION: Any clothes you can move in well. Black Dance Sneakers. Hair is to be combed back.

 

BOY’S MUSICAL THEATRE: Same as ballet. Jazz shoes needed. Hair is combed back with no stray hair in your face.

TEEN CLASS SUPPLIES NEEDED

All Students in SATURDAY PBT CLASSES will need a YOGA MAT and a LARGE FITNESS BALL.  Students in company and higher level ballet/jazz classes will need THERABANDS (see below).

​

Please follow the chart below for the correct size of the LARGE FITNESS BALL

Student’s Height:

Under 4’8” - a 45 cm or 18' fitness ball
4’8” to 5’3” - a 55cm or 22' fitness ball
5’4” to 5’10” - a 65 cm or 26' fitness ball

5’10” to 6’4” - a 75 cm or 30' fitness ball

List of Therabands needed

A long "purple" PBT theraband ($10)

A short "light blue" theraband ($5)

A round "yellow" and "green" theraband ($5/each)

​

We will cut the therabands from a bulk order to fit your child so thank you for purchasing these through us! If you already have therabands from summer classes then simply bring them with you to your fall/spring classes. No need to purchase new ones! If you do not have therabands, you may order them from Melinda.
